Democrats Abroad Mexico is the official organization of the Democratic Party in Mexico. Since its inception as a country committee of the worldwide Democrats Abroad in 2000 (Democrats were active in Mexico City as far back as 1954), it has connected Americans living outside the United States with national politics and the Democratic Party.
We work to advance the principles of our Party by spreading the Democratic message to Americans throughout Mexico, and encouraging them to vote for Democratic candidates back home. Click here to register to vote.
Mexico has six chapters: Lake Chapala, Metropolitan Mexico City,
San Miguel de Allende, Mazatlan, Costa Banderas (Puerta Vallarta and Nayarit area) and the Young Democrats Abroad (YoDems) in Mexico City. A chapter is in formation in Veracruz.
Democrats Abroad has active committees in countries in Europe,
Asia, Africa and the Americas. These Country Committees keep Americans abroad informed of their rights and help them participate in the U.S. political process. A small support office is maintained in Washington, D.C.
Democrats Abroad is open to any United States citizen of voting age whose primary residence is abroad, and who supports the principles of the Democratic Party. No oath of loyalty, fees or dues, or past voting record is required to become a member. Click here to join.
Democrats Abroad is recognized as a “state” Party by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and is represented on the DNC by eight voting members, as well as at the quadrennial Democratic National Convention.
The governing body of the Democrats Abroad is the Democratic Party Committee Abroad (DPCA). DPCA is comprised of elected international officers and the chair and vice chair of each Country Committee as well as the six representatives of Democrats Abroad to the DNC. (The remaining two members of the DNC from DA are the International Chair and Vice Chair.)
